AIRDRIE, Alta. – The fight at the top of the PBR Canada National Standings is as tight as ever. With Dakota Buttar, Jake Gardner, and Jared Parsonage separated by just 186.67 points—and plenty more still up for grabs—it's still anyone's game.

That high-level competition was on full display two weekends ago in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where Buttar and Parsonage shared the event win—a first in the 10-year history of the PBR Canada Cup Series.

And who finished immediately behind them? Gardner, of course.

The PBR Peace Country Invitational marked Parsonage's second elite Cup Series victory this season, having previously topped the field in Ottawa this past June. The Maple Creek, Saskatchewan cowboy also boasts two Touring Pro Division wins, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and Stavely, Alberta—firmly placing him in the conversation for his first PBR Canada Championship.

And the momentum didn't stop there. Just last week, Parsonage out-rode both Buttar and Gardner at the Canadian Finals Rodeo, collecting his third national title in rodeo competition.

With three regular-season events remaining, in Medicine Hat, Alberta; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Parsonage says it's all about doing the job and matching the pace of his toughest rivals.

"Grande Prairie was good. Both Dakota, Jake, and I were riding well, and we're sitting first, second, and third in the standings," Parsonage said. "So while it didn't change much between us, it did help separate us a little from the rest of the pack."

"When you're riding your bulls, you're winning. Coming off a win like that is great, but it really just comes down to climbing into the chutes the same way every time and doing your job."

Parsonage acknowledged how competitive the 2025 season has been and emphasized that staying in the hunt means riding at the same level as his closest competitors.

"When everyone else is riding good, especially guys like Dakota and Jake, who you're neck and neck with, you've got to be at your best to compete."

Parsonage has always been upfront about his primary focus being on the rodeo side of bull riding. With three Canadian titles and three trips to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo under his belt, he admits that in Canada, riders need to chase success in both rodeo and PBR to make it a viable career, and that a PBR Canada title has long been a goal.

"If you want to be a bull rider in Canada and make a living at it, you have to do both," he explained.

"Staying in Canada these past few years, you're going to end up doing both circuits. So the goal becomes winning both. I've never won a PBR Canada title, and I'd still love to. There's just too much money and too many great events not to. I mean, some of those years I was going south, 2017 through 2019, I might have had a shot at a PBR title, but I don't regret that at all. I was at the NFR those years."

Now with renewed focus on the Canadian PBR season, Parsonage is looking forward to the next Cup Series stop in Medicine Hat, which hits close to home.

"That's pretty much a hometown event for me," Parsonage laughed.

"It's more than just bull riding, it's a whole show, a full experience. There's so much more going on. The boys are riding great, so it's shaping up to be a pretty exciting fall run. You don't want to miss these last few events."
