Thor Hoefer II Wins Grande Prairie Buckwild PBR

GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alberta – At the first-ever PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada event in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Thor Hoefer II (Priest River, Idaho) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the Grande Prairie Buckwild PBR inside Evergreen Park.
To begin the event, the American cowboy first rode Broken Trigger (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points in Round 1 to enter the championship round second.
Hoefer then surged to the event lead when he was just one of three riders to cover his final draw, making the 8 aboard Dylans Devil (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 84 points.
For the event win, Hoefer earned $3,474.38, 280 Canadian and 60 world points.
After beginning the event No. 38 in the Canadian national standings, he is now No. 27.
Hoefer is now a mere 145 points outside of the Top 20 and a berth to the 2019 PBR Monster Energy Canadian Finals, presented by Dakota Dunes Casino on Nov. 22-23 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Not only will the event inside the SaskTel Centre crown a 2019 PBR Canada Champion, but also award the nation’s top rider at the end of one of the most intense national title races in league history a $50,000 bonus.
Continuing his comeback following knee surgery that relegated him to the sidelines for the majority of the first half of the season, Brock Radford (De Winton, Alberta) finished second.
Generating momentum in Round 1 with an 83-point ride on Can’t Catch Me (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls), Radford then tied for championship round win with 86 points on Homeboy (Skori Bucking Bulls).
He left the PBR’s debut event in Grande Prairie with $2,730.62, 212.5 Canadian and 30 world points.
Radford gained one position in the national standings, rising from No. 8 to No. 7. He now trails No. 1 Dakota Buttar (Kindersley, Saskatchewan) by 1,763.33 points.
A double entry, Jackson Scott (Kamloops, British Columbia) recorded two third-place finishes after logging matching 86-point scores. After winning Round 1 aboard Broken Trigger (Skori Bucking Bulls), the British Columbia covered Cool Bricks (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle) in the championship round.
He earned a collective $3,150.31, 290 Canadian and 35 world points.
The bronze efforts allowed Scott to crack inside the Top 10 of the Canadian national standings. Rising from No. 16 to No. 9, he now trails No. 1 Buttar by 1,977.5 points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan) who rode Finning Medicine Man (Flying Four Bucking Bulls) for 83 points in Round 1.
Parsonage’s fourteenth Top 5 effort of the season allowed him to gain ground on Buttar has he seeks to reclaim the nation’s No. 1 ranking. Entering the event 205.01 points back, No. 2 Parsonage is now a mere 122.51 points behind.
