BILLINGS, Mont. – For the first time in 2021, this past weekend’s PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast event in Billings, Montana, featured a Canadian flare, with the contingent of Canuck rider and bovine athletes at the PBR Wrangler Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, led by X6 Ranch’s Carlier Cartel (X6 Ranch Bucking Battle).

Marking the bull’s first time bucking on the league’s premier series since 2018, Carlier Cartel turned heads in Round 2 when he dispatched two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) in a quick 3.78 seconds to earn a 44.75-point bull score.

Not only did the score mark the top marks of any bull in Round 2, and third-best of the PBR Wrangler Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, but the effort was the second-best of Carlier Cartel’s career.

Carlier Cartel earned a second trip in Montana, selected to buck in the championship round. Drawn by Chase Dougherty (Stephenville, Texas), Carlier didn’t leave the chutes with Dougherty disqualified.

The powerful bovine athlete was one of three from the Alberta outfit, joined by Off The Grid (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle) and Muzzle Blast (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle). Both making their Unleash The Beast debut in Round 2, Off The Grid bucked off Mauricio Moreira (Gaviao, Brazil) in 6.21 seconds to earn a 42.75-point bull score, and Muzzle Blast dispatched Joao Henrique Lucas (Bastos, Brazil) in 2.4 seconds to earn a 41.75-point score.

Logan Biever (Claresholm, Alberta) made his PBR premier series debut in Billings.

Drawing Spotted Snake (Weber Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, the 23-year-old’s first-ever Unleash The Beast outing came to a quick end, bucked off in 3.93 seconds.

Biever is now ranked No. 57 in the world, 57.17 points outside of the Top 30 and a seeded position on the league’s elite tour.

Seven-time and reigning PBR Canada Stock Contractor of the Year Nansen Vold and Vold Rodeo was the most represented Canadian outfit in the draw, hauling five bulls stateside for the event.

In his elite tour debut, Diamond Show (Vold Rodeo) led the Ponoka, Alberta-based quintet, marked 44.25 points in Round 1 when he bucked off Derek Kolbaba (Walla Walla, Washington) in 3.26 seconds. The marks tied for the eighth best of the main event and were the best of the young bovine’s career to date.

Trapped (Vold Rodeo/Prescott) was Vold Rodeo’s second bovine athlete. Bucking in Round 1, Trapped sent Kyle Jones (Troy, Missouri) to the ground in 5.74 seconds to earn a 43-point score.

The other Vold Rodeo bulls that bucked who made journey to the United States were:
