KINDERSLEY, Sask. – At the first-ever PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Touring Pro Division event in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta) rode supreme, going a perfect 2-for-2 in front of the sold-out crowd inside the Kindersley West Central Events Centre to win the Energy Dodge Dakota Buttar Invitational.

For Robbins the win is his third of the season on the Touring Pro Division. He is now tied with the event’s namesake Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan) for third-most events won in 2024 on Canada’s developmental tour.

The 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year first put points on the board when he tied for fifth in the opening round courtesy of an 81-point ride on Stand By You (Eno Bucking Bulls).

Robbins then catapulted up the event leaderboard, clinching the victory, when he delivered an event-best, championship round-winning, 86-point ride on Ranahan (Kinky Buckers).

The determined Albertan’s latest win garnered him a crucial 55.5 points. Chasing his first PBR Canada Championship this November, Robbins rose from No. 7 to No. 6 in the standings. He now trails No. 1 Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) by 550.5 points.

Buttar was also in competition Thursday night, however he was shutout, going 0-for-1. The two-time and reigning PBR Canada Champion was bucked off by Razors Edge (Kinky Buckers) in 3.56 seconds in Round 1.

As the only other rider to be flawless at the Energy Dodge Dakota Buttar Invitational, Lonnie West (Cadogan, Alberta) was second, collecting 44 national points.

West rode Nasty Breath (Foley Bucking Bulls) for 83 points in Round 1, before going the distance aboard Border Breath (Foley Bucking Bulls) for 83.5 points in the championship round.

Attempting to make a late season push to qualify for the 2024 PBR Canada National Finals on Nov. 8-9 in Edmonton, Alberta, at Rogers Place, West surged from No. 42 to No. 28 in the standings.

William Barrows (Foremost, Alberta) parlayed a Round 1 win into a third-place finish.

The young gun was unrivaled in the opening round, besting Talk’s Cheap (Eno Bucking Bulls) for 85 points but fell just short of the win when he was upended by Tailor Made (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle) in a close 7.5 seconds in the final round.

Barrows left the Saskatchewan event having earned 26 national points. He rose from No. 37 to No. 30 in the national standings.

Fourth was three-time PBR Canada Champion Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan).

Roy collected 20 national points for his 84-point ride on Road Rash (Foley Bucking Bulls) in Round 1.

Seeking his unprecedented fourth national title this November, Roy gained one position in the standings climbing from No. 9 to No. 8. He now trails the top spot by 588.5 points.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil). The Brazilian made the requisite 8 atop Jay Walk (Kinky Buckers) for 83.5 points in Round 1 to garner 17 national points.

Santana rose from No. 15 to No. 13 in Canada.

In the bull pen, Ceili’s Pyper (Foley Bucking Bulls) was dominant, earning his first Bull of the Event title in 2024. Bucking in the championship round, the powerful animal athlete was marked an unmatched 44 points for his 5.69 seconds of work against Ashton Sahli (Red Deer, Alberta).

The 2024 PBR Canada season continues September 6-7 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, at the Byrne Ranch. Action for the Touring Pro Division’s Clunie-Cooper Memorial PBR gets underway nightly at 7:00 p.m. CST.
