PBR Canada No. 1 Jake Gardner Wins Sold-Out Cup Series Event in Brandon, Manitoba to Remain No. 1 in the Race for the 2025 Championship and $100,000 Bonus

BRANDON, Man. – In front of a sold-out Saturday night crowd in Brandon, Manitoba, Jake Gardner (Fort St. John, British Columbia) showed just why he is ranked No. 1 in Canada, going a perfect 3-for-3 to win the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series’ Mazergroup Chute Out. The win, Gardner’s second consecutive across all levels of PBR competition in Canada and third of the 2025 season, allowed him to further his stronghold on the No. 1 rank in the race for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus.

Gardner, who travelled to Brandon fresh of a win on the Touring Pro Division the day prior in nearby Dauphin, Manitoba, got off to a quick start in Round 1, delivering the second-best score when he rode Red Rust (Vold Rodeo) for 84 points.

The British Columbia native then overtook the top spot on the event leaderboard courtesy of an 86-point ride in Round 2 aboard Kraken (Skori Bucking Bulls).

With the first pick in the championship round bull draft, Gardner selected a familiar opponent in Patiently Waiting (Skor Bucking Bulls). Less than 48 hours prior said bovine athlete propelled Gardner to the win in Dauphin.

Nodding with confidence, Gardner repeated his past success, reaching the requisite 8 for 86 points to clinch the victory.

Gardner left the Keystone Centre at Westoba Place with 128.5 national points, growing his lead to 116 points over new No. 2 Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan).

Buttar delivered a flawless 3-for-3 performance of his own to finish second at the PBR Mazergroup Chute Out.

The two-time PBR Canada Champion was the undeniable front runner on Friday night, winning Round 1 with an 84.5-point ride on Smooth Sailor (S&M Bucking Bulls).

On Championship Saturday, Buttar covered Desperado (Lazy S Bucking Bulls) for 82.5 points in Round 2, before tying for the championship round win with an 88-point score on More or Less (Thompson Rodeo Livestock).

Chasing his record-tying third national title this November, Buttar earned 111.5 national points, rising from No. 3 to No. 2 in Canada.

Jordan Hansen (Amisk, Alberta) was third, netting 85 national points.

The veteran contender made the 8 on State Line (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle) for 81 points in Round 1, User Friendly (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 83.5 points in Round 2 ,and Whiskey Moon (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 88 points in the championship round.

Seeking his first PBR Canada Championship at season’s end, Hansen surged from No. 5 to No. 4 in Canada, propelled within 194 points of No. 1 Gardner.

As the only other rider to go a perfect 3-for-3 in Brandon, 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta) was fourth.

Robbins conquered Day Thuggin (S&M Bucking Bulls) for 84 points in Round 1, before making a business decision to decline a re-ride in Round 2, keeping his 69-point score atop All Gussied Up (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle).

In the championship round, Robbins punctuated his performance with an 87.5-point ride on MoBamba (Thompson Rodeo Livestock).

Leaving Manitoba with 55.5 national points, Robbins climbed from No. 18 to No. 10 in the Canadian national standings.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan).

After being bucked off in Round 1, tossed by Upstairs Basement (S&M Bucking Bulls) in a quick 2.07 seconds, Parsonage rebounded in fast form on Championship Saturday.

As competition got underway with Round 2, Parsonage logged the high-marked ride of the event, dominating Crazy Little Thing (Two Bit Bucking Bulls) for 88.5 points. He followed that with another commanding score, dominating Moonwalk (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 88 points in the final round.

Parsonage earned 66 national points, surging from No. 11 to No. 6 in the race for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship. He now trails No.1 Gardner by 282.17 points.

In the bull pen, Shot Caller (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle) was crowned the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event. Bucking in the championship round, the powerful animal athlete was marked an unmatched 44 points for his 4.15 seconds of work against Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil).

Following a two-week break, the 2025 PBR Canada Sup Series will next travel to London, Ontario, and Canada Life Place for the PBR London Classic on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7.
