NEW YORK – Lonnie West (Cadogan, Alberta) led the Canadian contingent of riders competing at this weekend’s duo of Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) events, finishing sixth in Kearney, Nebraska.

The Top 10 finish, which comes a month after the 22-year-old won the first RVT event of his career, earned him $575.96 and 10 world points. A month into the 2018 season, and his early season push finds him ranked No. 9 in the world.

In Round 1, West covered Mighty Mouse (Plummer/Hart Cattle Co.) for 82 points, before bucking off Smoke Signals (Flying V Bucking Bulls in the championship round.

The newly crowned 2017 PBR Rookie of the Year, Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) emerged the event winner, capturing the first RVT victory of his career.

With an 86-point score in Round 1 aboard Hoss (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jenkins Cattle Co.), followed by an 87-point on Wart (H&D Bucking Bulls) in the championship round,  the Brazilian young gun earned 80 points toward the world standings along with $7,662.33

2014 PBR Canada Champion Stetson Lawrence (Williston, North Dakota) finished second, earning 50 world points and a paycheck for $5,296.78.

He also went 2-for-2 with an 82.5-point ride in Round 1 aboard Vanilla Thunder (Wallgren Bull Co.) while tying with Leme with 87 points in Round 2 on King Buck (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jenkins Cattle Co.).

Finishing in third place was Justin Granger (Tuba City, Arizona) who tallied an 86-point ride in Round 1. He earned 30 points towards the world standings and took home $3,239.78.

While West was the lone Canadian competitor in Nebraska, Fabian Dueck (Irricana, Alberta) and Cole Young (Fairview, Alberta) both competed at the Peoria Classic in Illinois.

Both failed to log qualified rides in Round 1, with Dueck bucking off Lucas Oil Skyhigh (Lucas Cattle Co & Dunn Bucking Bulls) and Young failing to make the 8 aboard Tyler Time (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).

Cody Campbell (Summerville, Orgeon) earned the victory at the Illinois event, going 2-for-2 and picking up 80 points toward the world standings and a paycheck for $7,000.

The 30-year-old tied for the Round 1 win with an 86.5-point score on Space Plane (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls), and was the lone victor in the championship round after covering Show Me Homie (JK Elite/Young Bird/Cord McCoy/K-C) for 90 points. 

Paulo Lima (Bezerros, Brazil), Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Springs, Utah) and Neil Holmes (Houston, Texas) all tied for second, each earning 33.3 points towards the world standings.

In the first round, Lima rode to 85.5 points aboard Bottom’s Up (K-C Bucking Bulls / TCB Ranch), while Whitehorse earned 84 points on Last One Standing (Cornwell Bucking Bulls ) and Holmes tied for the round win with a score of 86.5 points on Psycho Kid (New Frontier Rodeo).

To close the night, Whitehorse led the trio in the championship round with 88.5 points on Pneu Dart’s Crooked Face (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls), followed by Lima with an 87-point effort on Big Black (K-C Bucking Bulls) and Holmes who earned 86 points for his qualified ride on Bad Check (C Check Bucking Bulls).

Lima and Whitehorse both earned $3,233.33 for the runner-up finish, while Holmes took home $3,533.33.

The next stop on the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will be in Oakland, California on January 6 at the Oracle Arena.

The 2018 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas in 2018, leading into the PBR’s World Finals at T-Mobile Arena.
