AIRDRIE, Alta. – Koltin Hevalow made his Canadian debut last season in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at SaskTel Centre, going 1-for-2 and finishing 11th overall at the two-day event.

Now, as the PBR Canada Cup Series gets set to storm into London and Ottawa, Ontario, this June, Hevalow is returning north—and bringing someone special with him.

His younger brother, Krash, will be making his own PBR Canada debut, competing at both Ontario events with hopes of earning enough points to qualify for the 2025 PBR Canada National Finals this November in Edmonton, Alberta.

“It’s pretty cool. He gets to tag along and do the same thing I’m doing,” said Koltin. “I feel like my brother, he’s hungry. He wants to come up there and dominate just as much as I do.”

“It’s exciting to do it as two brothers. I asked if he was ready, and without hesitation, he said yes. I feel like if he does what he knows how to do, and stays confident, he’ll have no trouble at all.”

While Koltin speaks highly of Krash, the elder Hevalow has built his own strong résumé, a member of the protected roster for the Kansas City Outlaws in the PBR Teams league, and three-time PBR World Finals qualifier.

With Koltin’s experience, and Krash’s tenacity, the duo could be a major threat in Ontario.

“He’s hard-headed—he doesn’t take no for an answer,” Koltin said with a smile about his 18-year-old brother. “He’ll try every time he nods his head, whether he’s in a good spot or not. He’s going to give it everything he’s got.”

“He’s a quiet guy, kind of shy, but he gets along with everyone. He’ll goof around and joke with the guys because he knows a lot of them already.”

Koltin’s first trip to Canada last fall left a lasting impression, even if it came with a weather shock compared to what he’s used to back home.

“It was my first time to Canada, so everything was new to me. It was a pretty cool experience. I tell a lot more people now that they should go to Canada and experience it. I didn’t do quite as well as I’d hoped, but I got one bull rode out of two, so I couldn’t complain.”

One of the biggest differences bull riders often note when coming north is the size and strength of Canadian bulls. Built for the cold, they tend to be larger and slightly slower, but no less athletic.

“Some bulls down here are Canadian-born, and they’re definitely bigger,” Koltin said. “That’s one thing my brother and I have talked about. They’re just a little slower, a little bigger. But they’re still badass—still strong, still good to get on, still raring and kicking. At the end of the day, it’s bull riding. You’ve still got to keep your hand shut and stay on for eight seconds.”

Koltin added that PBR Canada is a perfect proving ground, especially for riders looking to sharpen their edge.

“It’s a great place to get your feet wet if you’re going to be in the PBR. You can go make good money, get on great bulls, and build confidence. Then when you get a shot at the Unleash The Beast, you’ll be ready to dominate.”

With five outs expected across the two weekends, Koltin said the goal remains simple for both brothers.

“The hope is just to stay on whatever they run under us, whether it’s the best bull or the weakest bull in the pen,” he said. “Let the judges figure out the rest. They better keep their pencils sharp.”

“The game plan every weekend is to win. But I told my brother, don’t worry about winning, just stay on. If you ride the most, they’ll pay you the most, and you’ll win anyway.”

For anyone unsure of what to do in Ontario on June 6–7 in London or June 14 in Ottawa, Hevalow says a night at the PBR Canada Cup Series is an experience like no other.

“My best advice? Go buy tickets,” he said. “You’re about to watch one of the coolest things you’ll ever see—some of the best bull riders going head-to-head with some of the best bulls. It’s two hours of great sports and entertainment.”

“Your hard-earned money will be worth it. You’ll be watching guys who’ve put in the work just so you can enjoy seeing us do what we love.”
