PBR Canada bullfighter Tanner Byrne previews his Top 5 matchups to watch for Round 2 of the third PBR Canada Cup Series event of 2026 in Brandon, Manitoba.
BRANDON, Man. – Brandon, Manitoba; you've seen a bunch of great rides in Round 1. A lot of guys set themselves up good to get two scores, get into that championship round, try to take the win. The boys get to pick their bulls today, so when that happens, you usually see lots and lots of rides. In the long round as they usually pick ones that fit their style. I think that's exactly what we have today. We're gonna see a bunch of rides.

Cauy Schmidt, Cody Coverchuck, Aaron Roy, Francisco Costa, I think they're all gonna get scores on the board today. There's a few that stand out to me though, guys that stepped up to the plate that could have possible round wins.

Nick Tets vs. Diggin Up Bones
A rematch for Tetz, he bucked off last night, he's mad at himself and he's gonna have to get a big score to get back on one. I think he's got the ball to do it on that they are in the 85 - 86 point range on this bull all the time. Nick was 86 points the last time he got on was Digging Up Bones of Thompson Rodeo. He’s a muley that's been around for a long time, should be in the gate to the right and jump out of it at the end. Look for Nick to style him up and, and try to get a good score to get back on one.
Dakota Buttar vs. Jet Black
Another rematch here. Buttar has been 87, 88 points on this bull from the Skori firm. The bull was out last night, bucked off Ashton Sahli and looked really great in the gate to the left, really blowing in the air. A lot of, a lot of action to him. We've seen Wacey Schalla win a round on this bull. This is one that the guys want to get on that you can get a great score on. Look for Buttar to do that exact same thing here, 87, 88 points to match his score from night one and get a really good pick in that championship round.
Jayden Roy vs. Thunder Down Under
This is a kid that I haven't heard much about. First time I've seen him live was last night. He's out of Quebec, he’s Jeremy Maisonneuve’s buddy and wow, he looked phenomenal last night. He rode a bull that a lot of guys don't get along with and won the round, a really great way to start your PBR Canada Cup Series career. And look for that same thing here, that's bull is similar to the one that he rode last night, Thunder Down Under should be in the gate to the left. I’ve seen a few different trips out of this bull, but he's best when he's right in the gate to the left and bucking and spinning. Jaden had first pick, and he stepped up to the plate and picked this one. Young bull that’s the same as Jaden, we're gonna see a lot of this year. This could be another round win for this kid and set himself up to try to win his first Canada Cup Series event that he goes to. So I'm looking forward to seeing this kid's career unfold.
Jeremy Maisonneuve vs. Linebacker
Jeremy rode a bull that bucks very similar to Linebacker last night in the long round. He got a re-ride and rode Effective, that bull has a lot of pushback around the left. That's exactly what Linebacker is gonna do. This is the bull that Jayden Roy won the round on last night. Jeremy Maisonneuve rode this bull in Prince Albert last year for a score of 87, 88 points. Look for that same thing here. This is a great matchup, fit his style really well. The Quebec boys are coming to ride and it's really great to see these young guys stepping up to the plate at the Cup Series events. Same thing here, look for another 87, 88 point ride to set himself up great for the short round and and try to get that win.
Garrett Green vs. Surprise Twist
The Wiley veteran is quietly doing things better than I think he ever has in his career. We saw Garrett in Moose Jaw step up to the plate and be almost 90 points. He's riding phenomenal. He's sticking it on them, he's doing his own thing and just riding bulls like Garrett Green does. This bull, Surprise Twist from Jim Thompson was I think the best bull out last night. Black, white face bull, kicked the lights out in the gate to the right, a Championship Round caliber bull in my opinion and should fit Garrett really, really well. He rode one last night, look for him to try to get that round win tonight. You can see an 88, 89-point ride here on this bull or higher and that's what his plan is. Like I said, he's quietly sneaking under the radar, having a phenomenal season so far. I'm proud to see Garrett still rolling, still riding and riding at this top level and look forward to seeing him try to take the Championship here in Brandon.
