ROY STRIKES GOLD IN MEDICINE HAT – Last weekend in Medicine Hat, Alberta, young gun Jayden Roy reached a crucial career milestone, going a perfect 2-for-2 to win his career-first PBR Canada Cup Series event, victorious at the PBR Medicine Hat Classic, presented by Art’s Excavating. As action got underway in Round 1, Roy was tasked with Cracker Jack. Reaching the requisite 8 with ease, Roy was awarded 84.6 points, the sixth-best score of the opening round. Roy, who rides for the Nashville Stampede in the PBR Teams league, then elected to go head-to-head with Strapper in the championship round. In what proved to be a perfect pairing, Roy covered the bull for an event-best 87.3 points to clinch his career-first Cup Series win as the only rider to cover both of his animal athlete opponents. The golden finish garnered Roy a crucial 122 national points. He surged from No. 13 to No. 7 in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000, and is now within 975.83 points of No. 1 Nick Tetz. Roy now also sits atop the Rookie of the Year race, 65.5 points ahead of No. 2 Jeremy Maisonneuve.

Roy has been electric since making his PBR Canada debut this past May in Brandon, Manitoba, where he went a perfect 2-for-2 to finish second. The further add to the impact of his first-ever event in PBR Canada action, Roy won Round 1 of the Cup Series event courtesy of an 86.8-point ride on Linebacker. In the months since, Roy has ridden to seven additional top-10 finishes, including two wins, led by his career-first in July at a Touring Pro Division event in Calgary, Alberta. Roy has gone a combined 11-for-22, covering a torrid 50% of his animal athlete opponents. Eager to continue his momentum in Round 1 of competition from Saskatoon, Roy has drawn Surprise Twist.

CAN TETZ BE STOPPED – This season, Nick Tetz is riding in seemingly unstoppable form as he chases his record tying third national title. At the most recent Cup Series event in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Tetz extended his sizeable lead atop the national standings courtesy of an eighth-place finish. His 83.4-point ride on Bail Money earned him 17 national points, allowing him to grow his lead atop the championship battle. He now leads No. 2 Gilmar Santana by 373.83 points. This season, Tetz has been riding at a torrid pace, currently 32-for-49 having covered 65.31% of his animal athlete opponents. Tetz has also tallied eight event wins and 14 round wins across all levels of PBR competition in Canada, while also having logged the lone 90-point ride of the season on home soil. He will look to continue his winning ways this weekend inside SaskTel Centre, first tasked with One Spot.

PAST SASKATOON EVENT WINNERS – When the Cup Series last travelled to Saskatoon in October 2025, Jared Parsonage showed up and showed out in front of the record-setting crowd inside SaskTel Centre, going a flawless 3-for-3 to win the Saskatoon Classic, presented by Redhead Equipment and CASE IH, overtaking the then No. 1 rank in the race for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship. Parsonage first converted in the opening round when he logged the fifth-best score as he went the distance on Wild Time for 84.5 points. The home province hopeful then climbed the leaderboard when he tied for the Round 2 victory, covering Linebacker for 86.5 points. Parsonage then elected to go head-to-head with Moonwalk in the championship round. A decision which proved dividends, Parsonage conquered the bovine athlete for an event best 89 points to cement the win. Courtesy of the win, Parsonage earned a crucial 240 national points. He surged from No. 3 to then No. 1 in the PBR Canada Championship race, propelled 70 points ahead of new No. 2 Dakota Buttar. The win was a vital step for Parsonage en route to being crowned the 2025 PBR Canada Champion a few short weeks later. During his championship presentation, Parsonage notably retired, concluding his storied career inside Rogers Place.
