AIRDRIE, Alta. – Edmonton, Alberta, got a preview of the incredible talent, both bovine and human, headed to the PBR Canada National Finals next month.

On October 9, PBR Canada presented the first-ever BYOB (Bring Your Own Bull) Bull Battle, a two-man, team event where a professional bull rider and an amateur partnered up, selected their own bulls, and went head-to-head against five teams.

In front of a lively crowd at the Canadian Country Expo inside the Edmonton Expo Centre, PBR Canada standout Jeremy Maisonneuve and teammate Hayden Mulvey rode supreme, capturing the win as they bested the other four teams.

For Maisonneuve, who has been lighting up the PBR Canada scene during the 2026 campaign, the decision to take part in the special event was a no-brainer.

"I wasn't sure how I was going to like that format, but I'm always down to try something new," he said. "And good thing I did, because I absolutely loved that event. It's awesome when you get to cheer for your buddy. If he does good and I do good, we both get paid.

"No matter what event you go to, you're still competing, right? You still want to win. But we still cheer on our buddies, you just cheer a little louder when his ride matters on the amount of money you make as well."

As an exhibition event, no PBR Canada points were awarded, but that didn't change Maisonneuve's mentality when it came time to select a teammate.

"It was a no-brainer that I was going to pick Hayden. Last year, going up in the BRC ranks, we were always first and second, no matter what event we were going to. So I knew that was the guy I was going for," Maisonneuve said.

"That was the guy for the job, and I knew that he wasn't going to come loose, and I knew he was going to try his guts out no matter what that bull did."

For those in attendance, the event offered a small preview of what PBR Canada will bring back to Edmonton next month for the National Finals inside Rogers Place on Nov. 13-14.

"I hope that everybody there saw what the PBR was all about. Seeing good matchups, seeing a lot of good bull rides. When guys get matched up with bulls and they're able to pick them, it makes for a great show for the crowd," Maisonneuve said.

"And it's awesome for us because then you know what you pick and you can kind of prepare yourself. It was an awesome event. I absolutely loved it."

Maisonneuve had only one thing to say to anyone still on the fence about grabbing tickets to the richest bull riding event in Canada, November 13-14 at Rogers Place, set to award $275,000, including $100,000 to the year’s Champion.

"A lot of fireworks and a lot of good bull rides. Get your tickets now, you won't be disappointed."
