YORKTON, Saskatchewan – On the hunt for his record-setting fourth PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Championship, Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) won the final regular-season event of 2019, victorious at the Yorkton Grain Millers Harvest Showdown, part of the nation’s Touring Pro Division.

As one of just three riders to go a perfect 2-for-2 across the two-day event, the 32-year-old first rode Fire in the Hole (R Saga Ranch) for 82 points, tying for the seventh-best score in Round 1.

Roy then continued the momentum in the championship round, recording the high-marked ride of the event, covering VJV Whiskey Hand (Vold Rodeo) for 87 points.

The victory netted Roy, who is the first, and only, Canadian to ever win more than $1 million in the PBR, $5,185, in addition to 275 Canadian and 60 world points.

Ahead of the 2019 PBR Monster Energy Canadian Finals, presented by Dakota Dunes Casino, on Nov. 22-23 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where both the Canadian Championship and $50,000 bonus will be awarded, Roy climbed from No. 12 to No. 9 in the national standings.

He now trails No. 1 Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan) by 1,529.99 points ahead of the season-culminating finals where 2,250 points will be up for grabs.

A double entry on both nights of competition, Brock Radford (De Winton, Alberta) lit up the leaderboard, finishing second, tied for fourth, tied for seventh and tied for eleventh, to earn a cumulative $5,638.33, 299.58 Canadian and 40 world points.

Like Roy, Radford’s runner-up effort was backed by a flawless 2-for-2 outing inside the Gallagher Centre.

Following an 82-point ride on Turn Back Time (Flying Four Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, Radford covered One For the Money (Vold Rodeo) for 85 points in the championship round.

His other 8-second efforts included a Round 1-best, 85-point trip on Tractor Land (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls), in addition to an 83-point ride on Tykro Total (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) and an 82-point effort on Fig Jama (Vold Rodeo), also both in the opening round.

After finishing runner-up in the national standings the past two seasons, Radford inched closer to capturing his first PBR Canada Championship compliments of the finishes. He rose from No. 7 to No. 6 in the national standings, now 1,018.74 points behind the No. 1 ranking.

As the final rider to reach the 8-second whistle in both of his trips, two-time PBR Canada Champion Zane Lambert (Ponoka, Alberta) was third.

He rode Mystic (R Saga Ranch) for 82 points in Round 1, and Dylans Devil (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 82.5 points in the championship round.

Earning $2,040, 120 Canadian and 20 world points, Lambert remained No. 11 in the nation, but now trails No. 1 Parsonage by 1,659.57 points.

Rounding out the Top 5, and tying for fourth with Radford, was Thor Hoefer II (Priest River, Idaho) and Kache Moosman (Price, Utah), who also recorded matching 85-point rides.

Hoefer’s effort aboard Southern Heat (Vold Rodeo) tied for the Round 1 win, while Moosman’s score atop Kubota’s Summer Warrior (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) tied for the second-best in the championship round.

For their efforts, Hoefer earned $1,685.83, 108.33 Canadian and 10 world points, while Moosman took home $1,430.83, 88.33 Canadian and 10 world points.

Both men gained ground in the national standings courtesy of their finishes.

Hoefer rose from No. 27 to No. 24, and Moosman climbed from No. 36 to No. 31.

The 2019 PBR Canada season will conclude on Nov. 22-23 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the SaskTel Centre for the 2019 PBR Monster Energy Canadian Finals, presented by Dakota Dunes Casino where the 2019 PBR Canada Champion will be crowned and earn the coveted $50,000 bonus.

Action gets underway with Round 1 and Round 2 on Friday, November 22 starting at 7:30 p.m. CST, concluding on Saturday, November 23 with Round 3 and the championship round at 7:30 p.m. CST.
