ARMSTRONG, B.C. – As the 2025 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada season continued Sunday evening in Armstrong, British Columbia, Jake Gardner (Fort St. John, British Columbia) wowed the home province crowd, delivering the high-marked ride of the Touring Pro Division event at the Armstrong Fairgrounds, to win the Interior Provincial Exhibition and Stampede.

Courtesy of the win, Gardner decimated No. 1 Dakota Buttar’s (Eatonia, Saskatchewan) lead in the race for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus, climbing within a mere 21 points of the lead.

Gardner was sensational in Round 1 of action. He bested Wise Guy (Kinky Buckers) for 85 points to surge to an early event lead. Despite being bucked off by Dark Mark (Kinky Buckers) in 5.34 seconds in the final round, his opening score proved enough to cement the win.

The veteran contender left the British Columbia event with a crucial 108 national points. While he remained No. 2 in Canada, Gardner slashed Buttar’s lead from 129 points to 21 points.

Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil) and Shay Marks (Sunny Brook, Alberta) tied for second, each netting 60.5 national points for their matching 84.5-point efforts in Round 1.

Santana conquered Super Fly (Vold Rodeo), while Marks outlasted F.A.F.O. (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.).

In the national standings, Santana rose from No. 13 to No. 11, while Marks climbed from No. 45 to No. 29.

Fourth was Jordan Hansen (Amisk, Alberta).

Hansen earned 37 national points for his 83-point ride on Rip Dinger (Vold Rodeo) in the opening round.

Seeking his first PBR Canada Championship this November, Hansen remained No. 5 in the nation. He now trails No. 1 Buttar by 327.5 points.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Chanse Switzer (Hazenmore, Saskatchewan).

The reigning PBR Canada Rookie of the Year made the requisite 8 on Jammer (Vold Rodeo) for 82 points in Round 1 to collect 32 national points.

Switzer climbed from No. 17 to No. 13 in Canada compliments of the finish.

In the bull pen, Grand Funk (Kinky Buckers) was unmatched, crowned the Bull of the Event. The powerful animal athlete posted a commanding 44-point score in the championship round after bucking off Santana in 5.06 seconds.

The 2025 PBR Canada season continues September 5-6 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, for the Touring Pro Division’s Energy Dodge Dakota Buttar Invitational. Action at the West Central Event Centre begins at 7:00 p.m. CST.
