KELOWNA, B.C. – In front of a record-setting, sold-out Thursday night crowd in Kelowna, British Columbia, Garrett Green (Meeting Creek, Alberta) showed up and showed out going a perfect 2-for-2 to win the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series’ Okanagan Challenge and crack the Top 5 in the national standings.
As competition got underway inside Prosper Place, Green first took on Jingle and Go (Wilson Rodeo). Bursting from the chutes, Green remained in perfect time with the powerful animal athlete, marked a round-winning 83.5 points.
With the first pick in the championship round bull draft, Green elected to go head-to-head with Stray Bucks (S&M Bucking Bulls). A decision which proved dividends, Green rode the bull for an event-best 88 points to cement his win.
Green left British Columbia having earned 136 national points. He rose from No. 6 to No. 4 in the race for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus. Green now trails No. 1 Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan) by 306.33 points.
Buttar was shutout at the PBR Okanagan Challenge. He was bucked off by Shockazoola (W Sunrise) in 5.72 seconds.
Defending PBR Okanagan Challenge winner Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan) was second, netting 86 national points.
Parsonage rode Says Who (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 81 points in Round 1, before conquering Margy Kat (W Sunrise) for 87 points in the championship round.
The veteran contender remained No. 3 in Canada, but is now within 285.17 points of No. 1 Buttar.
As the only other rider to convert in Kelowna, Koltin Hevalow (McAlester, Oklahoma) was third.
Hevalow, who rides for the Kansas City Outlaws in the separate PBR Teams league, was flawless inside Prospera Place. He outlasted Upstairs Basement (S&M Bucking Bulls) for 79.5 points in Round 1, and God Bless (W Sunrise) for 86 points in the championship round.
The surging American garnered 62 national points, climbing from No. 14 to No. 10 in Canada.
In the bull pen, Grand Funk (Kinky Buckers) and Moonwalk (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) bucked supreme, tying for the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event title. Both marked an unrivaled 43.5 points in the championship round, Grand Funk lit up the scoreboard when he tossed Austin Paley (Beverlodge, Alberta) in 2.29 seconds, while Moonwalk wowed when he upended Dawson Shannon (Drayton Valley, Alberta) in 3.39 seconds.
Following a near two-month break, the PBR Canada Cup Series will next travel to Grande Prairie, Alberta, and Bonnetts Energy Centre for the PBR Peace Country Invitational on Saturday, September 27. Action will get underway at 7 p.m. MT. Tickets can be purchased online at BonnettsEnergyCentre.com, and by phone at (780) 538-0387.
