2025 PBR Canada Championship Contenders Dakota Buttar and Jared Parsonage Tie for Elite Cup Series Event Win at Sold-Out, Record-Setting Tour Stop in Grande Prairie, Alberta

GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. – In front of a sold-out, record-setting crowd Saturday night in Grande Prairie, Alberta, for the seventh PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series event of 2025, Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan) and Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan) rode supreme, tying for win at the Peace Country Invitational.

For Buttar, he got off to a fast start inside Bonnetts Energy Centre, winning Round 1 courtesy of an 87-point ride on Linebacker (Skori Bucking Bulls). The reserved Saskatchewan man then remained atop the leaderboard when he outlasted Jet Black (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 87 points in the final round.

The two-time PBR Canada Champion garnered 111 national points for the win, furthering his grasp on the No. 1 rank in the race for the 2025 Canadian Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus. Buttar now leads No. 2 Jake Gardner (Fort St. John, British Columbia) by 42.5 national points as he chases his record-tying third national title this November.

Gardner delivered a perfect 2-for-2 performance of his own to finish third, netting 70 national points.

Logging matching 86-point scores, “The Prince of the Peach Country,” dominated Hanna Motors Stand By You (Skori Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 and Bow Before Me (Vold Rodeo/Prescott) in the championship round.

Parsonage began his golden showing at the Peace Country Invitational by registering the second-best score of the opening round, making the requisite 8 on Special Ops (Vold Rodeo/R Saga Ranch) for 86 points.

The veteran contender then delivered the high-marked ride of the event in the championship round when he conquered Moonwalk (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 88 points.

Leaving Grande Prairie with 110.5 national points, Parsonage remained No. 3 in Canada, now trailing No. 1 Buttar by 186.67 points.

Rounding out the Top 5 and tying for fourth was Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil) and Jeremy Maisonneauve (Val-des-monts, Quebec).

Santana rode Diggin Up Bones (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 81 points in Round 1, and After Glow (Vold Rodeo) for 84 points in the championship round to collect 48 national points. He remained No. 10 in Canada, now 705.17 points behind No. 1 Buttar.

In his PBR Canada debut, Maisonneauve’s flawless performance included a 79-point score atop Time To Twist (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in Round 1, and 86-point ride aboard Bon Jovi (Wilson Rodeo) in the championship round.

The 18-year-old sensation earned 40.5 national points and rose from unranked to No. 41 in Canada.

In the bull pen, Silver Creek (Vold Rodeo) bucked supreme, crowned the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event. The powerful animal athlete was marked an unrivaled 43 points for his 2.29 seconds of work against Wyatt Gleeson (Sundre, Alberta) in the championship round.

The PBR Canada Cup Series will next travel to Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Co-op Place for the Medicine Hat Classic on Saturday, October 18.
