STAVELY, Alta. – As an electric crowd at the Stavely Outdoor Arena watched on Saturday evening, Brazilian sensation Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil) delivered a flawless 2-for-2 performance to win one of the most prestigious events within the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada ranks, victorious at the Touring Pro Division’s Glen Keeley Memorial Bull Riding.
Santana first struck in Round 1 when he delivered the second-best score, covering Chopper Reid (Calgary Stampede) for 83 points.
The South American phenom then took on God Bless (W Sunrise) in the championship round. In what proved to be a perfect pairing, Santana topped the animal athlete for 84 points to clinch his sixth PBR Canada event win of the 2026 season.
Courtesy of the golden showing, Santana earned a crucial 116 national points. While he remained No. 2 in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus, he slashed No. 1 Nick Tetz’ (Calgary, Alberta) lead to 268.33 points. Tetz was not in competition at the Glen Keeley Memorial Bull Riding.
Three-time PBR Canada Champion Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) was second, netting 78 national points.
Despite being bucked off by One Shot (Lazy P Rodeo) in a quick 2.19 seconds in the opening round, Roy was quick to make the most of his second chance in the championship round. Tasked with Snoopy (Skori Bucking Bulls), Roy made the requisite 8 with ease, marked an event-best 88.6 points.
Chasing his unprecedented fourth national title this November, Roy surged from No. 13 to No. 7 in the Canadian standings. He now trails No. 1 Tetz by 762.83 points.
Third was Tyler Craig (Crossfield, Alberta).
Craig was sensational in the opening round, logging the top score when he covered Bangers & Mash (Calgary Stampede) for 85.5 points. The reserved Albertan, however, was denied a shot at victory when he was bested by Black Mamba (Lazy P Rodeo) in 4.03 seconds in the final round.
Leaving Staveley with 64 national points, Craig rose from No. 8 to No. 4 in Canada. He is now 724.83 points behind the top rank.
Darnell Bahe (Jeddito, Arizona), the final rider to convert at the 2026 Glen Keeley Memorial Bull Riding, was fourth.
Bahe collected 38 Canadian points for his 82.9-point effort aboard Wild Oats (Eno Bucking Bulls) in Round 1.
Unranked prior to the event, Bahe is now No. 41 in Canada.
In the bull pen, SweetPro Choices (Eno Bucking Bulls) bucked in lights-out form, crowned the Bull of the Event. The powerful animal athlete was scored an unmatched 44.3 points for his 2.75 seconds of work against Francisco Costa (Humaita, Brazil) in the championship round.
