RED DEER, Alta. – As a sold-out, record-setting crowd watched on Saturday night at the 2026 season-launch PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series event in Red Deer, Alberta, Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) rode supreme, delivering a flawless 2-for-2 performance inside Marchant Crane Centrium to win the PBR Red Deer Classic and further his grasp on the No. 1 rank in Canada.
Tetz first struck in Round 1, converting on re-ride draw Bad Intentions (Vold Rodeo) for 85.5 points, punching his ticket to the championship round second on the event leaderboard.
With his early pick in the championship round bull draft, Tetz elected to go head-to-head with More or Less (Thompson Rodeo Livestock). Nodding with confidence, Tetz erupted from the chutes, remaining in perfect time with the powerful animal athlete en route to the 8-second whistle. Tetz was awarded an event-best 87.4 points, clinching the win.
Two-time PBR Canada Champion Tetz is now a perfect 6-for-6 on Canadian soil in 2026. Additionally, he has won four of the six rounds of action held thus far this season, and his win in Red Deer came on the spurs of his Touring Pro Division victory on New Years Eve in Oyen, Alberta.
The Albertan left Red Deer having earned 126 national points. Chasing his record-tying third national title this November, Tetz grew his lead atop the standings to 196 points over new No. 2 Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta).
Weston Davidson (Strongfield, Saskatchewan) was second, collecting 84.5 national points.
Davidson rode Rock Steady (Vold Rodeo) for 84.9 points in Round 1, before going the distance aboard Hell and Back (S&M Bucking Bulls) for 86 points in the championship round.
The 24-year-old surged from unranked to No. 4 in Canada. He now trails No. 1 Tetz by 226.5 points.
As the final rider to go a flawless 2-for-2, Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) concluded the PBR Red Deer Classic third.
Two-time PBR Canada Champion Coverchuk was one of the 16 riders to convert in the opening round, securing the tenth and final position in the championship round courtesy of his 83.3-point effort atop Write This Down (Thompson Rodeo Livestock).
As the first man to leave the chutes in the championship round, Coverchuk delivered a dominant performance, climbing the leaderboard when he bested Whisky at Noon (Vold Rodeo) for 86 points.
Also seeking his record-tying third PBR Canada Championship this season, Coverchuk garnered 63.5 national points for his podium finish. He rose from No. 13 to No. 6 in Canada, now trailing the top rank by 236.5 points.
Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta) was fourth.
Robbins was electric in Round 1, delivering the top score when he covered Holy Smokes (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 85.9 points. The 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year, however, was denied the win in the final round when he was tossed by Magic Jam (Vold Rodeo) in a quick 2.1 seconds.
The affable Albertan netted 49 national points at his home province event and climbed one spot in the national standings from No. 3 to No. 2.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Jeremy Maisonneuve (Val-des-monts, Quebec), garnering 33 national points.
The 18-year-old young gun logged the fourth-best score of Round 1 when he made the 8 on Hanna Motors Stand By You (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 84.6 points.
Maisonneuve then drafted reigning PBR Canada Bull of the Year Moonwalk (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in the championship round. Maisonneuve’s momentum came to an end as the powerful animal athlete showcased his bucking prowess, tossing the Quebec native in 3.96 seconds.
During the trip, Moonwalk was awarded an unrivaled 43.8 points, earning him the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event honor.
When the dust settled, Maisonneuve rose from No. 4 to No. 3 in Canda, climbing within 219 points of No. 1 Tetz.
