Jordan Hansen Wins the Wild West PBR to Crack the Top 5 in the Race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship

PONOKA, Alta. – As an electric crowd watched on Saturday night at the Ponoka Stampede Grounds, veteran contender Jordan Hansen (Amisk, Alberta) rode supreme, going a perfect 2-for-2 to win the Touring Pro Division’s Wild West PBR (Professional Bull Riders), cracking the Top 5 in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship.

Hansen was sensational in Round 1, delivering the top marks when he rode Nacho (W Sunrise) for 86 points.

Continuing his momentum into the championship round, Hansen punctuated his outing at the Wild West PBR with the high-marked ride of the event, besting Stray Bucks (S&M Bucking Bulls) for 88.3 points.

Earning a crucial 136 national points at his home province event, Hansen surged from No. 10 to No. 5 in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus. He climbed within 447.33 points of No. 1 Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta).

Tetz was shutout at the Ponoka Stampede Grounds, failing to grow his lead in the title race after being bucked off by Cracker Jack (W Sunrise) in 4.67 seconds in Round 1.

Griffin Koester (Rockyford, Alberta) was second, netting 84 national points.

Koester topped Crazy Coupe (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle) for 84.1 points in Round 1, and God Bless (W Sunrise) for 87.2 points in the championship round.

On the hunt for his first PBR Canada Championship at season’s end, Koester catapulted from No. 17 to No. 9 in Canada, propelled within 537.33 points of No. 1 Tetz.

Surging Brazilian Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil) was third.

Santana took home 70 national points for his 84.2-point ride atop Full Metal Jacket (Vold Rodeo) in Round 1, and 87.05-point effort aboard Toxic Dreams (Vold Rodeo) in the championship round.

Remaining No. 2 in Canada, Santana closed within 302.83 points of No. 1 Tetz.

As the final rider to go a perfect 2-for-2, Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia) was fourth.

Marking his first-ever outing on Canadian soil for PBR competition, Rizzo first rode Jet Black (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 83.4 points in Round 1, before going the distance on Air Deacon (Calgary Stampede) for 86.05 points in the championship round.

Earning 51 national points, Rizzo rose from unranked to No. 28 in Canada.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan).

The three-time PBR Canada Champion registered the second-best score of Round 1 when he covered Joker on Jack (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 84.9 points. Roy, however, fell short of contending for the win when he was tossed by reigning Bull of the Year Moonwalk (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in 3.09 seconds in the final round.

Garnering 35 national points, Roy rose from No. 15 to No. 10 in the national standings as he seeks his unprecedented fourth PBR Canada Championship this season. He is now 569.33 points behind No. 1 Tetz.

In the bull pen, Fever (Vold Rodeo) and Whisky at Noon (Vold Rodeo) bucked a cut above the rest, tying for the Bull of the Event honor after delivering matching 43.2-point outs.

Fever registered the unrivaled score in Round 1 when he bucked off Austin Paley (Beverlodge, Alberta) in 2.6 seconds, while Whisky at Noon competed in the championship round, upending Garrett Green (Meeting Creek, Alberta) in 2.16 seconds.
