Flawless Jayden Roy Wins Career-First PBR Canada Cup Series Event in Medicine Hat, Alberta

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. – As an electric crowd watched on Saturday evening inside Co-op Place in Medicine Hat, Alberta, young gun Jayden Roy (Mascouche, Quebec) reached a crucial career milestone, going a perfect 2-for-2 to win his career-first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series event, victorious at the PBR Medicine Hat Classic, presented by Art’s Excavating.

As action got underway in Round 1, Roy was tasked with Cracker Jack (W Sunrise). Reaching the requisite 8 with ease, Roy was awarded 84.6 points, the sixth-best score of the opening round.

Roy then elected to go head-to-head with Strapper (W Sunrise) in the championship round. In what proved to be a perfect pairing, Roy covered the bull for an event-best 87.3 points to clinch his career-first Cup Series win as the only rider to cover both of his animal athlete opponents.

The golden finish garnered Roy a crucial 122 national points. He surged from No. 13 to No. 7 in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000, and is now within 975.83 points of No. 1 Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta).

Atop the standings, No. 1 Tetz finished eighth. His 83.4-point ride on Bail Money (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/Legend Rodeo Stock) earned him 17 national points, allowing him to grow his lead atop the championship battle. He now leads No. 2 Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil) by 373.83 points.

Santana was in action in Medicine Hat, but was shutout, going 0-for-1 He was bucked off by Full Metal Jacket (Vold Rodeo) in 5.09 seconds in the opening round.

Returning to the top of the event leaderboard, Tanner Eno (Coronation, Alberta) was second, earning 78 national points.

Eno delivered the top score of Round 1 when he bested Bon Jovi (Kinky Buckers) for 86.6 points. His hopes of victory were then denied in the final round when he was bucked off by Huckle Berry (Legend Rodeo) in 3.21 seconds.

With just two events remaining before the National Finals, Eno rose from No. 18 to No. 13 in the standings.

Tyler Craig (Crossfield, Alberta) was third.

Craig collected 54 national points courtesy of his 86.3-point ride atop Toxic Masculinity (Legend Rodeo) in Round 1.

Chasing his first PBR Canada Championship this November, Craig rose one position in the national standings, climbing from No. 5 to No. 4. He is now 862.83 points behind No. 1 Tetz.

Rounding out the Top 5 and tying for fourth was Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan), Jordan Hansen (Amisk, Alberta) and Austin Paley (Beverlodge, Alberta).

Each rider recorded an 85.6-point ride in the opening round to net 32.66 points.

Two-time PBR Canada Champion Buttar covered Dream Living (Vold Rodeo/R Saga Ranch), while Hansen bested Slip Up (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) and Paley conquered Super Fly (Vold Rodeo).

In the Championship battle, Buttar remained No. 3 in Canada, closing within 759.17 points of No. 1 Tetz, and Hansen remained No. 8, now 996.17 points behind the top spot. Looking to make a late-season push to qualify for the National Finals, Paley rose from No. 33 to No. 28.

In the bull pen, SweetPro Choices (Eno Bucking Bulls) bucked supreme, crowned the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event. Bucking in the championship round, the powerful animal athlete was scored an unrivaled 44.5 points for his 2.11-second buckoff of Paley.
