Coverchuk Wins Gold Eagle Casino PBR Challenge

NORTH BATTLEFORD – Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) won his second PBR Canada Touring Pro Division (TPD) event of the season Wednesday night, victorious in his home province at the Gold Eagle Casino PBR Challenge in North Battleford.

His finish, which earned him $3,412.32, 275 Canadian and 60 world points, was backed by a Round 1-winning, 86-point trip on Kool Aid (R Saga Ranch Ltd).

A double entry, the 24-year-old also finished in a three-way tie for second, earning him an additional $1,743.48, 128.34 Canadian and 21.67 world points. His runner-up effort came via an 84.5-point ride aboard Stuntman Hank (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) in Round 1.

Collectively, Coverchuk left the North Battleford Civic Centre with $5,155.80, 403.34 Canadian and 81.67 world points. In the national standings, he rose to No. 3, where he now trails No. 1 Brock Radford (De Winton, Alberta) by 195.83 points, while in the world rankings he has cracked into the Top 50.

For Coverchuk his win and runner-up results in North Battleford come amidst a hot streak for the rising Saskatchewan-native, marking his sixth and seventh Top 10 finishes in the month of July.

Splitting second with Coverchuk were Daylon Swearingen (PIffard, New York) and Todd Chotowetz (Major, Saskatchewan).

Their 84.5-point rides, both of which came in Round 1, were aboard Finning Sure Juicy (Flying Four Bucking Bulls) and Strong Arm (Vold Rodeo), respectively. Both riders earned $1,743.48, 128.34 Canadian and 21.67 world points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, New South Wales, Australia) who rode Smash (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 84 points in Round 1. Also amidst a successful summer campaign, now ranked within the Top 35 in the world, he earned $640.30, 75 Canadian and 10 world points.

The Canadian Touring Pro Division next travels to Frog Lake, Alberta on August 5 for the Frog Lake PBR Canada TPD at the Frog Lake Rodeo and Racing Grounds beginning at 9 p.m. MT.
