GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Greenville Invitational was a hot start to the second event of the 2021 Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) season, as the best bull riders on Earth descended on Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

As the lone Canadian currently competing in the United States, Logan Biever (Claresholm, Alberta) tied for fourth in Round 1, one of three riders to record an 84-point score in the opening round of the Palmetto State event.

The 22-year-old Canuck went the distance aboard Cojo (D4 Cattle/Tomaski), while Leandro Lima (Vale do Paraiso, Brazil) and Jake Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) notched their matching efforts aboard Hard & Often (Halpain Bucking Bulls) and Uncle Gangster (Pick-It Hammers), respectively.

Each rider netted 1.33 world points as the race for the 2021 PBR World Championship continues to intensify.

Biever remained No. 43 in the world standings, closing within 124.67 points of No. 1 Mauricio Moreira (Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil).

In Round 2 of the PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s Greenville Invitational, Biever will attempt Little Beagle (Slingin’ BB’s) as he looks to cement his second Top-10 event finish in as many weeks.

Atop the event leaderboard, PBR Canada Finals Qualifier Cody Casper (Newport, Washington) treated the southern crowd to a round-winning 88-point ride on Cupcake (CO Cattle Co./Bob Whisnant), taking the lead midway through the 45-man competition on Friday night.

For the round win, Casper earned seven world points and rose to No. 38 in the world standings.

North Carolina’s Seth White (Statesville, North Carolina) gritted his way to second in the opening round of the two-day event. Conquering Fu Man Chu (Sho-Me Rodeo/Rafter J) for 86.5 points, the 26-year-old earned four world points.

White now sits No. 45 in the world rankings.

Brazilian Marcel Procopio Pereira (Rinopolis, Brazil) ended the round third. Tasked with Zacchaues (GT Bucking Bulls/Davis Rodeo Ranch), the poised Brazilian blew out of the chutes on the way to an 85.5-point ride.

Pereira, in the second PWVT event of his career, earned three world points in Round 1 and is now the No. 37 rider in the world.

Michael Lane (Tazewell, Virginia) and Laramie Craigen (Stephenville, Texas) split seventh place in Round 1, and were the last riders to win world points. Taking care of business on Speck (JQH Bucking Bulls – Skip & Elaine Jones) and Church Bells (Pick-It Hammers), respectively, the two riders were both marked 83.5 points and earned 0.5 world points.

The 2021 PBR Greenville Invitational is also a stop on the Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge’s 2021 season. Pick-It Hammers took home first place, scoring 276.12 points across three outs. JQH Bucking Bulls #2 was second with 274.69 points, and CO Cattle/Whisnant third, scoring 273.71 points.

Along with the 12 riders who reached the requisite 8 in Round 1, the Top 18 riders based on buckoff time will advance to fill the 30-man Round 2 on Saturday.
