SASKATOON, Sask. – For the 16th time in history, PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada will buck into Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, as the elite Cup Series takes over SaskTel Centre for two nights of competition on October 25-26 for the PBR Saskatoon Classic, presented by Redhead Equipment and Case IH.
PBR Canada’s Cup Series regularly features Canada’s best riders alongside some of the organization’s top international athletes, squaring off against the rankest bucking bulls from across the nation.
For two nights only, fans will witness exhilarating 8-second rides and wrecks throughout the unpredictable, action-packed event as the PBR’s courageous bull-riding athletes face off against their 2,000-pound opponents born to buck.
The PBR Saskatoon Classic will mark the final tour stop of the 10-event regular season for PBR Canada’s premier Cup Series in 2024.
The event will be met with added significance as the second and final Major of the season offering both an increased prize purse and national points. As a Major, the event will be crucial as riders compete for integral points in the final weeks of the season in the race for the 2024 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus.
When the Cup Series last travelled to Saskatoon in October 2023, teenage phenom John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) iced the competition, delivering a flawless 3-for-3 performance in his Canadian debut, including a monstrous 90-point ride, to win the event inside SaskTel Centre, cracking the Top 25 in the Canadian standings.
Crimber travelled to Canada amid an electric streak, having won nine events since making his PBR debut in mid-August.
Bringing his talents to the Great White North, Crimber quickly put points on the board in Round 1 when he rode Desperado (Vold Rodeo) for 83.5 points. Crimber then teamed with Uncle Rico (Kinky Buckers) for a Round 2-best 87 points, surging to the top of the event leaderboard.
For his championship round opponent, Crimber chose to go head-to-head with Bull of the Year contender Langham Kid (Two Bit Bucking Bulls). Crimber burst from the chutes, matching the bovine athlete jump-for-jump en route to the requisite 8, awarded a mammoth 91.5 points, cementing his tenth career victory.
Compliments of the golden finish, Crimber netted 144.5 national points. He vaulted from unranked to No. 22 in the Canadian standings.
The bull riding action for PBR Canada Cup Series’ Saskatoon Classic, presented by Redhead Equipment and Case IH, begins at 7:00 p.m. CST on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26.
